Hi everyone, I know this probably should’ve been the first post on the site but I wanted to jump in head first with actual content instead of an introductory post.
My name is Kaitlyn, I’ve been a lurker on the Book interwebs for the last many years. I am 29, I tend to lean towards booktube for bookish content. But I prefer writing about books as opposed to having my face in front of people, so don’t expect to see to many pictures of me on this blog lol.
I am the proud parent to a Golden Retriever named Maverick (yes, from Top Gun, working on convincing my partner that we need another one named Goose) and a grey and white cat named Falcon (Avengers). They are both chaos and there is never a dull moment in our house. Falcon knows how to turn on heating pads and heated blankets, and Maverick is just over a year old at this point so he is Chaos personified and thinks he is a 90 lbs. lap dog.
I love tea, if you haven’t guessed that from the name or my previous posts and I am constantly on the look out for new Loose Leaf Tea companies to try. I currently get the majority of my teas from David’s Tea just because it is easy and almost always in stock. I read primarily Fantasy and Fantasy Romance. I have gotten more into Sci-Fi this year, praise our Lord and Savior Murderbot for that (seriously go read the Muderbot novellas and book), and I am slowly working my way through the Expanse series by James S. A. Corey. I am a Sarah J. Maas fan, all though I don’t know how much content you will see about her on this blog. But I believe that Indy or Self-published Fantasy Romances are almost always superior to anything traditionally published.
Favorite books and authors, this is a hard list so I’m gonna split it up a little bit.
First are the books I grew up on and still love either the books or the authors (2 out of the 3 of them have passed away in the last several years). Steven R.. Lawhead writes UK/British/Celtic retellings or historical fantasyish books, the first series I read by him was the King Raven series (Robin Hood retelling), then I went to his King Arthur retelling, and I just finished his latest series Eirlandia. Next is Clive Cussler, mostly his Dirk Pitt series all though my partner is working on getting me into his other series and I also enjoy the Sam and Remi, and Oregon file books. My dad is also a huge fan of Clive Cussler and we used to listen to the Dirk Pitt books as audiobooks whenever we travelled. Always the abridged version though, because we started listing to them when I was between 10-12. Let me tell you when I physically read my favorite one, Valhalla Rising, I was so shocked that it included smut, but that is where my love of Smut came from shockingly. Last of the childhood favorites is , Brian Jacques. My dad (again, my love of reading definitely came from him), would read us his Redwall series every night before we went to bed from the time I was 6 to about 10ish. I continued reading the books as they came out even as I got older. And I am currently working on collecting all of them.
Now my current favorite books and authors as an adult. Sarah J. Maas tops the list and I’m not sorry. I enjoy them they are like candy, I understand they aren’t for everyone but that is the beauty of books everyone can like something different. I love the Bargainer Series by Laura Thalassa (10/10 go read it, Desmon Flynn is amazing). Brandon Sanderson, all I have left to read by him is the Stormlight Archive books that are currently out, he is probably my favorite fantasy author at the moment. I’ve really enjoyed all of Andy Weir’s books, but I don’t know if I would classify him as a favorite author yet. Both the Martian and Project Hail Mary are favorite books for 2021 though.
Well that’s me in a nutshell, I look forward to talking to you all as I write more posts and I hope you get to read a few chapters today and drink a cup of tea!
