Rant Review: Killian Unbound

eARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Hi all, welcome to the first Rant Review, hopefully there won’t be many of these on this blog. But I just don’t know what to think about this essential Novella I picked up today. Currently I am drinking a mug of Salted Carmel Hot Chocolate from Fable Grounds Coffee.

Okay so first off I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece out of this book based solely on the cover. But the synopsis was intriguing and I figured it would probably be a 3 starish read. Enjoyable but not something I’d necessarily recommend to other people. Supposedly the author is a bestselling Healthy Cookbook author, and I can only hope that they are better than this.

Quick overview of the synopsis, cursed man who is invisible locked into a tower. Princess fleeing from a marriage to a cruel prince. Terrible father that cares nothing about his only daughter. Standard historical fantasy romance type plot. Typically it’s a fun romp through and is a quick read for me.

This book! Was horrible, the cursed invisible man who is brought back by the desire (essentially) of a unexperienced woman (wasn’t even allowed to talk to men growing up, because they would take “liberties”). I just it was horrible written, they did this than said that then this happened. And I sat here reading it with a look of confusion the whole time. The synopsis had so many points going for it, Princess in need of help, bad father and unwanted husband, rogue man who “rescues” her and helps her find freedom and love. Doesn’t that sound enjoyable? But no the writing was so bad and it was so rushed that I couldn’t even remotely appreciate it. 115 pages is not enough for the story outlined in the synopsis. Like the Princess who had hardly ever talked to a man before was letting this ghost man touch her, make her orgasm, and wanted to undress her by chapter 2 or 3.

I just can’t proceed at your own risk with this one folks. There are much better Indie/Self-Pub Fantasy Romances out there.

Till next time my friends.
