Review: Learn my Lesson

Hi! Today we are drinking my Buddha’s Blend White Tea from David’s tea and talking about Learn my Lesson by Katee Robert. I’m also eating some blue chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies that I made and froze the dough for one of the Avenger’s Reading Initiative Readathon.

Learn my Lesson is book 2 in the Wicked Villain series by Katee Robert. Which is a reimagine of Fairytales, focused more on the Disney versions than the actual myths and legends, that puts the heroines of the stories with the villains in BDSM relationships. Book 1 Desperate Measures follow Jasmine and Jafar. Learn my Lesson follows Hades, Megaera, and Hercules as they form a Triad.

I love Katee Robert’s smut, she is the queen of it. All of the books I have read by her have been firmly in the BDSM realm, but I haven’t even scratched the surface of her backlist and so far I have only read; Neon Gods, Desperate Measures, and Learn my Lesson. Which are firmly in the fantasy/mythology realm.

I read Neon Gods first so I have that version of her Hades already in my head. And the Neon Gods series and Wicked Villain series are set in the same world so I spent most of the time confused about what the timeline was between the two books. Because both mention the loss of Hades’s first wife and son. But Learn my Lesson mentions nothing about Persephone. But both version of Hades run a BDSM club that is essentially neutral territory in both of their cities.

The drama between Meg and Hades seemed to go on forever, and it was drama that simply communication would resolved so easily. While I enjoyed the sexual dynamic between Hades and Hercules, Meg and Hercules, and Hades, Meg, and Hercules. All of the drama really started the get on my nerves. Especially when Hades started telling Hercules his plan but wouldn’t say anything to Meg who was essentially the manager of his club! How does that make any sense!

Personally I enjoyed this book (3.5🌟s) but that was solely due to my enjoyment of the smut. But lets be honest the smut is the main reason that anyone is probably picking up these books! I am excited to continue the series and I CAN NOT WAIT till I get to Beast. Because in true bookworm fashion Belle is my Favorite Disney Princess.
