Hello, how is everyone doing? Gearing up for the Holiday festivities that are about to start on my end. So I’m drinking my favorite Buddha’s Blend for a little sense of normalcy. Today I am going to be review A Worthy Opponent by Katee Robert, which is book 3 in the Wicked Villains series.

So coming off the back of Learn Your Lesson, which follows Hades, Meg, and Hercules this was brilliant and brought me the same enjoyment as Desperate Measures did. Tink’s deal is coming to an end with Hades at the start of the book and she has to figure out what to do to keep her self safe from Peter. Who is the reason she had a deal with Hades in the first place, she fled an abusive relationship with Peter. Hook, offers Tink a new “Deal” where she marries him and he presents Peter’s head on a platter.
I love Katee Robert’s writing, it’s just so easy to fall into, and this series is such a quick read for me that I can pick it up and have it finished with in a few hours. But while I struggled with wanting to read Learn Your Lesson, A Worthy Opponent sunk it’s teether in and didn’t let go.
I was picturing Hook as Colin O’Donoghue from Once Upon A Time (see below), and that made everything 1,000 times better!
And after seeing Tink, in the previous books being so sure of herself, and where she stood. The struggle she went through after losing her perceived safe space and then her ultimate victory over Peter was perfect. Robert’s writes abuse with care and I feel shows the struggle the character goes through making their choices to get out and that it can be beaten. Not just through violence (which is how this one ultimately ends). But also through the characters finding themselves and their voices. And I think that is such an important message to have out there.
Overall, my current ranking of the relationships in this series is:
1. Hook and Tink
2. Jasmine and Jafar
3. Hades/Meg/Hercules
The Beast is up next and I can not wait to see my favorite Disney princess defiled, it’s gonna be great!
Till next time,
Kaitlyn
