22 Books to Read in 2022

Hi! I’m finally feeling back on my game after the Holiday season, got some things straightened up and now I’m back to blogging. Why does January always feel like it takes forever for the world to return to a normal rhythm?

You’ve seen these lists and videos going around all month and probably in December too. But I’m gonna hope on the list and write about 22 books that I want to read in 2022. I’m trying to pull most of these from my owned TBR so that I can work on getting that knocked down some too! Two birds one stone and all of that jazz.

  1. Lover Unleashed by JR Ward, this is the last book I own in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, so once I finish it I can get the next 6 in the series.
  2. Green Rider by Kristen Britain, I’ve been eyeing this series for a long time. I found all of the books 2nd hand at a local used bookstore so I picked them up. I’m interested to see what this story is about
  3. The Lady of the Lake by Andrzej Sapkowski – This finishes off the Witcher series for me. Which is kinda of a sad thought. But I do own the 2 published/translated books in his newest series.
  4. The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (Part 1 and 2, because UK editions) – This is my start of the Stormlight Archives read. I’ve finished the Mistborn series, except for the era 2 book that is being published this year, so I want to dive into his arguably more popular series!
  5. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon – This is a book about books, it is historical fiction I believe. Which is not a genre I tend to enjoy. This is my last foray into Historical fiction, if I don’t like it then I’m just going to step away and stick to genres I know I enjoy.
  6. Thieves of Book Row by Travis McDade – A Book about people stealing books. Which honestly I kind of understand the thought process behind, but I want to know the why and the what!
  7. The Poison Prince by S.C. Emmett – I read book 1 last year, and want to continue with the series. I believe that the 3rd and final book was either just published or is going to be published in early 2022. So I may be able to finish out this series! Warring Kingdoms, Princes and Princesses, the last hope being a lady in waiting. You know all the fun things
  8. Code Name: Lise by Larry Loftis – Is about a female spy during WWII (I believe), I wrote my Senior Thesis in college about Female Spies between WWI and the Cold War, so this is just a guilty pleasure read that I wish had been out when I was writing my thesis!
  9. The Catalogue of Shipwrecked Books by Edward Wilson-Lee – Christopher Columbus, his son, and their pursuit to build the world’s greatest library. What book lover wouldn’t want to read about that? Also I want to see if Christopher is also awful on this adventure.
  10. Master of Sorrows by Justin T. Call – Magic is outlawed, but the main character does magic, I believe is the basic premise of this book. Ashleigh from AFrolicThroughFiction loved it, so I picked it up
  11. Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff – I want Vampires to make a comback! Also this isn’t a Fantasy Romance, so we get more of the gritty vampires than I usually read. Also, my first Kristoff wish me luck.
  12. The Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winters – This will catch me up in the Burning series, I thoroughly enjoyed Book 1, all though I probably need a reread before I dive into this one.
  13. A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair – my fellow Okie! I’m working on a list of good Hades retellings either with Persephone or with another greek mythological being (or disney character, lets be honest). So since this is so hyped on the Bookternet I have to check it out.
  14. Breach of Peace by Daniel B. Greene – the lone Novella on this list. I just want to see if I enjoy Daniel’s writing. His Youtube channel can be hit or miss for me depending on the video. But he gives solid fantasy recommendations.
  15. Rewire Your Anxious Brain – Anxiety is terrible. and my obligatory self-help book for the year
  16. Beautiful Nightmares by KJ Sutton – This gets me up to date with the Fortuna Sworn series, but good lord am I terrified. She is a chunky beast and I am ready for the tears.
  17. Master of Poisons by Andrea Hairston – I honestly have no idea what this one is about. Someone in Barnes and Noble recommended it to me based on the other Stack of Books that I had in my hands. So we are going to go in blind and cross our fingers!
  18. The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander – With how much I enjoy watching, listening, and reading about true crime. I figured it is imperative that I understand how the US Justice system is flawed and targets people of color. This book has been highly recommended so I’m starting here.
  19. The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake – Is the hype worth it? We shall see, Dark Academia is all I really know about this one
  20. The Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne – my first Gwynne, Norse elements, vikings, and gods. Sounds intriguing hoping I like it! I have Book 2 pre-ordered already lol.
  21. The Empire of Gold by S.A. Chakraborty – I’m scared to know what happens to Dara so I’ve been putting this off. I don’t know, if I am going to be okay if Nhari and Dara don’t end up together. But it could definitely go either way.
  22. The Name of All Things by Jenn Lyons – I loved book 1 when I read it a few years ago, definitely going to have to reread it at this point. But I want to continue on with the series, since it is almost fully published (I think).

There you have it, my 22 books to read in 2022, I’ll check back in in December and let you know which ones I managed to read or if I read them all!

What books do you want to make sure to get to in 2022?

Till we meet again Book Dragons
