Hi welcome back Book Dragons! It has been a crazy several months over here in Kaitlyn land! I bought a house and that has caused all sorts of chaos to happen and the blog took the back burner.
I did read The Blood Trials over the weekend and what everyone is saying is 100% correct it is a fantastic debut! If you are a fan of Red Rising I would definitely recommend you pick this up. And for those of you who didn’t like Red Rising, but liked the idea of it like I did I also think you’d like this book.
There is definitely a lot of Gore and Racism elements inside this book, so go in with eyes wide open, but it was masterfully handled and the Racism was not just thrown in but handled with care and played an important part in the story (not in a bad way).
Overall it was intriguing, I am still getting my Sci-Fi feet callibrated, but I am slowing finding what I enjoy. This is a militaristic Sci-Fantasy mix, I would definitely say it leans strongly to the Sci-Fi end in my opinion. But the Fantasy elements were also masterfully handled.
I am ready to see where this Duology goes and how N. E. Davenport develops as an author. They are definitely on my watch list.
