Hello, it’s nice to see you all again. I am in the midst of a Avengers Reading Initiative (Readathon) Boss Battle Infinity War. So I’ve been head down, knocking out books!
I finished up Act your Age, Eve Brown earlier this week and wow. While I personally relate more to Dani, I do have a brother who falls on the Autism Spectrum, he’s super smart and a lot like Jacob. So it warmed my heart seeing people like him represented in a Romance Novel!

Now, Eve loved her, I mean I loved all of the Brown Sisters. But each one you get a different aspect of a marginalized disability group. And just in general it is so good to see that in books, in a way that I feel is well done. While I can’t speak to the representation in Chloe and Eve’s books. I did feel like Dani’s was on point as someone who struggles/struggled with the similar things.
How many people do you think are out there like Eve, who just are afraid of failing so they bounce around from occupation to occupation, because of things someone has said to them while they were growing up. It has to be in the 1,000. But watching her find her way and find something she truly loves and is willing to stick it out for was great. Talia’s writing is so enjoyable, you get sucked into the story. While some parts of it aren’t as believable as in Chloe and Dani’s book (backing into Jacob after her interview), I felt like they were masterfully done and integral to the story. Which is the whole point of reading. Not everything has to be 100% believable even in a contemporary romance.
After reading all three of the books in this series below is my ranking of the love interests (yes Zaf won, I like the dark and broody type lol).
Zafir – 100% my favorite, probably helps that I resonated the most with Dani out of the sisters
Red – He also embodies some of that dark and broodiness at first, but then he switches more to the sweet artist type with occasional bouts of bad boy hotness.
Jacob – Was just super sweet but also an ass, and not in the way that I like in a book. While it 100% fit his character and I agree with it, it puts him last in my ranking.
Now they were all 9-10/10s so really all of them is great, and there is something for everyone!
Now that I have finished up the brown sisters, I have to figure out what is my next Contemporary Romance that I want to stick my finger in, since it isn’t a genre that I read much, I am a little wary of it in case it throws me in a slump. Drop any recommendations down below!
Till tomorrow,
Kaitlyn
