Self-Pub Sunday – Fantasy Romance

Hi Guys, not a book review today! I’m drinking my favorite Buddha’s Blend from David’s Tea while I write this. I’m about to break out the hot chocolate for the season, so you might see me recommending some of that.

Today I want to write about 5 of my favorite Self-Published authors and 5 Self-Published authors that I can’t wait to try a book from. I hope this list brings you some new authors to try out!

5 Self-Pub Authors that I have Read from:

K. J. Sutton
Sutton is the author of the Fortuna Sworn series (which I have read), Straight on Till Morning, the Charlie Travesty Serial, and many others. I’m still working through all of her books (published under K.J. Sutton), but the Fortuna Sworn series is amazing! It is a fae fantasy romance, with Fortuna being a nightmare who is forced to marry the fae king in order to save her brother who disappeared years ago. It currently has 3 books published and the 4th is releasing in the next few months!

Emma Hamm
Hamm has at least one Pen Name that I know of, Elizabeth Frost, but I’m not sure if she is writing under multiple Pen Names. She writes Fantasy Romance based around retellings of mythology and fairytales. My favorite by her is “Heart of the Fae” which is a Beauty and the Beast retelling.

Katee Robert
Robert is a well known Self-Pub and Traditionally Published Author. Her traditionally published book/s that I have read are Neon Gods (Hades and Persephone retelling) with Electric Idol coming out in January. But her self-pub books are I think my favorite (at this point). I am working my way through the Wicked Villain series, which is retellings of classic Disney fairytales, but with the “princesses” falling in love with the villains. I loved Desperate Measures, but, Learn my Lesson had a little to much miscommunication for me. Still looking forward to continuing with the rest of the series!

Laura Thalassa
The Bargainer series, go read it. There isn’t much to say beyond that. It was amazing and I loved Desmond Flynn. Dark Fae and Sirens and all sorts of other magical creatures. She also has the Four Horseman series, with the last book having come out recently. I read Pestilence, right after I finished the bargainer series, and I wasn’t sold right away on the series. I am still considering picking up the rest just to see if they get better. But I am looking forward to seeing what else she puts out!

Lana Pecherczyk
I’m currently working my way through her Fae Guardians series and am loving it! She also has The Deadly Seven (Seven Deadly Sins) and Season of the Vampire series, which I am very much looking forward to reading. She has great world building, the 2 books I have read so far have had the fated mates trope. Which I enjoy but I know isn’t everyones cup of tea. The romance while it is center stage there is an interwoven plot throughout the series, so it’s not just all romance and smut all the time.

5 Authors I want to try:

Rebecca F. Kenney
They have a Jack Frost retelling that keeps popping up on my instagram and it looks very interesting! They also have a series set around Peter Pan and several other standalone books that have definitely peeked my interest

Hollee Mands
Just published the first full book in a Fantasy Romance Series, Warriors of the Five Realms, with the Prequel being published Spring of 2021. Damsels in distress, Kings who are cold hearted, and only they can save each other. Sounds right up my alley!

Alessa Thorn
Paranormal Greek Gods retellings, from what I can tell in KindleUnlimited. Which is where I try a lot of my Self-Pub authors out and then if I enjoy them I start collecting their books. Asterion: The Court of the Underworld is the book that I plan to read first from Alessa and I am hoping to get to it here in the next month or so.

Jamie Schlosser
Different Worlds, Human and Fae, a Fae prince whose been cursed and a human girl that is falling in love with him. That is the basics of the Fae King’s Curse which is book 1 in Between Dawn and Dusk. It looks intriguing so it is fairly high up my TBR, plus it’s short so I expect it to be a quick read.

Juno Heart
Prince of Never, is one of their books that I am interested in picking up. A fae prince with a poisoned heart and a human girl with a magical voice and they don’t believe in fairytales. Color me intrigued. A lot of the self-published Fantasy Romance books are quick reads so I use them to break up my Epic Fantasy reading

I hope this has given you some new authors to try or at least put them on your watch list. I found all of these quick reads and kept me entertained. The page lengths range from 200s to almost 500. So there is a length for everyone and honestly a Self-Pub story for everyone is out there you just have to find it.

Till next time,
Kaitlyn
